New tricks

Nathanael is growing older! Since he turned 3 and our church rearranged the nursery and children's ministries, he is now coming to part of the worship service with us. He gets to participate in worship with Mommy (when she's not downstairs feeding Talitha) and Daddy for most of the service before going to children's church. It has been neat to see him get excited about hearing familiar songs being sung by all of Mommy and Daddy's friends. He also is getting more imaginative. Now any red, blue, and green car can be the "three leaders" from the Cars movie. Now they do more than just replay scenes from the movie. He does still enjoy his other toys, however. He really likes doing schoolwork too, and now he's getting more fine motor skills and can try to actually write or trace letters. He is so proud of his work he thrusts it into Forest's hands when he comes home from work. He is getting better at sounding out short three letter words too.

Hannah is so funny around the house. Every little bit of trash is deemed "tash" and promptly taken to the trash can. She loves to go out of the house, and anytime you say "go" she says "go, go" and gets her shoes and tries to put them on, or just stands at the front door trying to reach the handle. When she is hungry she'll say "cocky" for cracker and point at the pantry. She likes her baby sister a lot and gets concerned any time "Ta-tha" is upset. By the way, the way to say that name is with your tongue sticking out and leaving your mouth open after with your tongue hanging out, if you're Hannah at least. She is becoming quite independent, at dinner she will insist on using her own fork, even if nothing makes it to her mouth, and don't try to feed her a pbj, it must be cut into manageable pieces for her to pick up. But she is still pretty cautious on things that seem like they may hurt. Like stairs, even with a hand to hold and a set of rails to hang on to, she'll take forever to climb down the stairs to go to the car. Oh, and she's getting 8 teeth all at the same time. She's getting 4 molars and the teeth between those molars and her existing front teeth. So she's pretty overwhelmed sometimes with everything going on.

Talitha is already growing! We'll see exactly how much later this week at her one-month checkup. That's right, she's been with us, interrupting our sleep for one month. It sure goes by quick. Her newborn size clothes are starting to get snug, but they are hand-me-downs from a cousin and sister, so they have shrunk a bit. She has started smiling at us, and even manages a coo or two every once in a while. Overall she's a pretty happy/content baby.

Overall we're adjusting nicely to our new identy as family of 5. We even managed going to a restaurant for lunch today. Talitha slept through it and the other two got free meals. Hooray for Kids Eat Free Mondays at TGIFridays!!
