Fun this week!

So it snowed enough Tuesday to go to the park and try out our sled. It was melting fast, but the sled works great!

Having fun

Hannah is starting to have fun with us. She is smiling and even starting to make noises other than fussy ones. What is puzzling is that she only laughs in her sleep. She still doesn't play with toys yet, but she does seem to really like her mirror toy. In the evenings she prefers to eat and swing as well as sleep. Now she lets Forest and Laura sleep 4-5 hours at a whack at night--for which they are grateful.

Nathanael is rapidly adding to his vocabulary. He has whole conversations--both sides. For instance, when Forest is catching up on lost sleep by catching a few extra hours in the morning, Nathanael goes to the bedroom door and knocks. Then he says, "Who is it? Nathanael. Oh, come in. I cannot do it." Today, he couldn't find one of his cars, so he said, "Where is Lightning? Come find me." and then proceeded to search the living room for the car. Forest and Nathanael play hide-and-seek where Forest hides and calls "come find me!" and Nathanael finds where his voice comes from.

Laura is enjoying getting back to a regular routine-planning meals, going to Bible Study and story time at the library. Trying to fit in the housework around naps and feeding sessions is still challenging, but it will eventually settle down. She is looking forward to starting her evening class at the Seminary in a couple weeks.

Forest has been working at Carrabba's as usual and has added several short remodeling projects to his plate recently. He has been enjoying the extra time with his family before school starts again. He is looking forward to his classes as well. He's been disappointed with the snowfall we've recently had, he and Nathanael are both anxious to use the sled they bought together.

Nathanael is growing too. He has been asking to use the big boy potty, and we've even been underwear shopping to start getting ready to try potty training. Just this last week he learned how to pedal his bike. He'll tell you that if he turns his hands "like this" to the right or left he crashes in the mud. He needs some reminders to push with his foot when it is at the top, but he can do the propelling--Forest helps with the steering. He is showing his imagination developing too--his cars have pretty extensive conversations with each other. However, he is still very literal. He doesn't really like the nose game. When Forest "takes his nose"--puts his thumb between his two fingers to get his nose and steal it--Nathanael gets upset if Forest pretends to chew it up. Sometimes he'll feel his nose to make sure it's still there and tell Forest "no, it's still there!" He is willing to share some toys with his mom and dad, and even offers Lightning McQueen (his favorite car) to Hannah, even though she's too little to play with toys. Finally, Nathanael is getting some of his last molars--we think that's making for some crankiness.
