So Laura's been washing and readying for the baby which should arrive really any day now. Sometimes the baby's things are still out in the morning when Nathanael gets up. Last week a very warm blanket was in the laundry basket and he picked it up. Now, we've been reading I'm a Big Brother by Joanna Cole and it talks about babies and what big brothers do. One thing the big brother does is help keep the baby warm and cozy. So Nathanael was playing with the blanket and Laura told him it was going to be for the baby. He played some more, wrapping it around his waist, wearing as a cape, then he brought it over to Laura and put it on her belly--on the baby, and said "keep warm and cozy."
Forest has been really busy with school lately since the semester is wrapping up. So Laura makes sure to share some of these cute little moments at home with the little man. He asked last night how much of this new baby's little milestones and fun little developments we'll just gloss over as second-time parents. It's hard to imagine that in a little while we'll be the parents of two, and trying to spend equal amounts of attention to a very active toddler and a demanding newborn. But we know by God's grace we will be the parents He wants us to be.
